Israel/Judah History Bible Study Lesson 4 Questions


1. Read 1 Samuel chapters 9-31 and tell the circumstances of Saul being appointed King?

2. Who told Samuel to appoint Saul as king? Explain the statement "your kingdom could have lasted forever". ( 1 Sam 13:13-14)

3. Explain the comment "prefer obedience to sacrifice". What was the event that this phrase referred to? How does this statement apply to us today?

4. Explain the "if" statement in 1 Sam 12:14-15.

5. Why did David always spare Saul's life? List some of the scripture verses where this happened.

6. Did Saul choose to make the decisions he made or did God force his decisions?

7. Explain the statement "man looks at the exterior of a man, but God looks at the heart." How does this statement relate to King Saul and David?

8. Saul's weakness included fear, anger, jealously and pride. Give a scripture reference illustrating each of these weaknesses in Saul's life.

9. Does the story of king Saul show a consistent pattern on God's requirement of man? If so what are some of God's consistent requirements?

10. Compare/meditate upon the comparison of Saul and David. List some of the contrasts that God shows you.
