Joshua Bible Study Lesson 1 Questions
1.Where does the book of Numbers get its name? Who is the author? What is the location of Israel when the book starts? How many times was Israel counted (numbered) in the book of Numbers?
2.The time frame of the story in the first ten chapters of the book of Numbers overlap with what other two Bible books?
3.When God tells Moses to count the twelve tribes, He tells Moses that the Levites will not be one of the twelve tribes. Who is inserted for the Levites? Where in Genesis do we get a prophecy that this will happen? Where in Exodus does God get the "firstborn" claim on the Levites?
4. Explain the arrangement of the camp by the location of the tribes and tabernacle.
5.Explain the marching order of the tribes and the position of the tabernacle and furniture.
6.What two physical items does God use to show the nation of Israel that not only is He present but He is leading them?
7.Explain the cleansing of the camp. Do some research on God's dealing with leprosy as a type of sin and explain.
8.What was the commitment level of the people of Israel to God's commands? Give examples.
9.What was the role of the two trumpets? Explain the concept of that finial trumpet at the end of time and the relevance of the story of Israel in the wilderness to our preparation for that event.
10.Research on the Internet or in paper commentaries and look for and give an outline for the book of Numbers. I like a three-part outline such as I. Order (1st numbering) - II. Disorder (rebellion) - III. Reorder (2nd numbering). Give me an outline that you like and state the theme of the book of Numbers.

Use the internet and/or other resources as you write your answers. For example the Blue Bible (http://www.blueletterbible.org/) has some commentaries. For example select Genesis chapter 3 and look at verse 15. On the left you will see the letter L (stands for list of tools like commentaries). Use both Chuck Smith's and David Guzik's commentaries to help you answer these questions.
