Bible Study Prophets Lesson 3 Questions


1. What is the general understanding of the difference between the divisions of the "major" and "minor" prophets? Which of the five major prophet books is the exception to this rule? What is the general understanding of the terms "earlier" and "latter" prophets? What is the general understanding of the terms "writing" and "non writing" prophets?

2. List the key non writing prophets, the time frames they lived, and the kings to which they served as a prophet.

3. Discuss the relationship of Nathan with King David.

4. Discuss the relationship of Elijah to King Ahab.

5. Discuss the relationship of Elisha and the kings of his day.

6. Discuss the calling of Elisha as the replacement of Elijah.

7. Discuss the encounter between David and Nathan over David’s sin with Bathsheba.

8. Discuss Elijah’s encounter with Ahab and the false prophets on Mt. Carmel.

9. Discuss the encounter with Elisha and Naaman.

10. Do one sermon out line using an illustration from each of the prophets Nathan, Elijah, and Elisha. Let the major points be these three illustrations and each major point have at least 3 sub points.
