1. Who wrote Malachi? When was it written? What does the name Malachi mean?

2. What is the theme of Malachi and from what verses is the theme derived?

3. Outline the book of Malachi.

4. Read Mal 1:1-4 and Luke 14:26. What is similar between these verses? Is God speaking in a literal or figurative manner in these verses?

5. Read Malachi 2:1-9 and explain.

6. Read Mal 2:17 and explain. In what ways is the modern church doing the same thing?

7. Read Malachi 3:1-6. Who and what event are most of these verses about?

8. Read Malachi 3:7. What are some of the sayings of Jesus that are similar? List the verses.

9. Read Mal 3:16-18 and explain. What are some similar references in the New Testament?

10. What was the message of John the Baptist? Where do many see a reference to him in Malachi? In what ways was his the message the same as the prophets?
