I am not ashamed of Gospel of Christ ....(Roman 1:16)

Romans Bible Study Lesson 8 Questions

God is always sovereign if He is God. However in the book of Romans Paul addresses the impartiality, justice, and holiness of God. As we study the Bible we need always to remember the character and characteristics of God. We must always remember that the Bible is a sequential revelation of God and His desires of mankind, therefore we need to interpret Scripture based upon this prior revelation and not try to build a new doctrine that is counter to earlier revelation.

1.Review chapters 1-4 and remember about what God says about sin (what defines), about who has sinned, and what is the punishment of sin. State briefly what God says about these issues.

2.What does Paul say is the solution to the sin problem?

3.Read chapter 6 of Romans and describe what God expects the results of faith to look like in a true believer. Answer the following questions in light of the fact that Paul is speaking to believers (true Jews) in Romans 9-11.

4. Read and explain Romans 9:6-8.

5. Read Romans 9:16, 9:32-33. Relate these verses to the thought that man does not determine method (his works) of salvation, but it is by God's method (faith= trust &obey).

6. Read Romans 9:9 -15. Meditate upon the thought there is no unrighteousness with God. Then think about the illustrations of "Ishmael & Isaac" and "Jacob & Esau" in relationship to "Children of God (Spiritual) & Children of Flesh (physical)" and then relate all these passages to question 5.

7. Read Romans 10:9-13. Meditate on these verses. To whom is the offer made? Is it a conditional offer? Is there a difference (method) between the Jew and Gentile?

8. Read Romans 10:21, 2 Peter 3:9, and Mt 23:37 and discuss what is a common thought in these verses.

9. Read Romans 11:19-24 and explain.

10. Read Romans 11:26. In Romans 9:6-8 Paul speaks of true Israel to be Spiritual decedents of Abraham. Is Paul speaking of physical or Spiritual Israel? Explain your answer. Remember that Romans is a letter with a continuous sequential train of thought.
