God's Challenge - Solid Food
A common problem today is much like the problem that the writer of Hebrews was addressing in Hebrews 5:12 when he says “You have been Christians a long time now, and you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things a beginner must learn about the Scriptures. You are like babies who drink only milk and cannot eat solid food.”
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (1 Peter 2:2)
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. ( 2 Tim 3:15-17)
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (11)
Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (105)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:8-10)
Isa 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (1 Cor 2:5)
But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? (James 2:20)
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Tim 3:1)
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ( 2 Tim 3:5)
So many are throwing the Baby out with the “bath water” by teaching that under grace you have License not liberty, that is to say that if we are forgiven we can sin all the more. But we should remember Paul's response, God forbid (He did)!
