God's Provision ....... Chapter 9 .... God's Eternal Covenant

Isaac asked his father Abraham, "Father, We have the wood and the fire, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?" Abraham replied "God will provide a lamb, my son,"

Before creation God foreknew that Adam and Eve (mankind) would sin and break God's covenant relationship. God established a plan of restoration prior to Adam and Eve's creation2. That plan was the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. This plan was kept secret because if rulers of this world knew God's plan they would not have crucified Jesus.

(1) God's Plan ---------(2) God's Promise
(3) God's Provision-----(4) God's Power

God's Plan

God's covenant relationship started with man through Adam and Eve. His first commandment was do not eat from the tree of knowledge, if you do you will surly die. The bible tells us even before God issued this command He knew that Adam and Eve would disobey and break this covenant relationship.

So before He created man God established a plan of salvation that is referred to as a mystery in the New Testament. This mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Christ death, burial, and resurrection were some of critical pieces that implemented God's everlasting covenant. All earlier revelations were only shadows of the real.

God's Promise

God's promise was a Seed to crush the head of Satan. After Adam and Eve had sinned by disobeying God's first covenant revelation, God promised mankind a deliver through a future descendent of Eve. As we trace this promised Seed through the Bible we find that Abraham, Judah, and David are all given a promised of a Seed that will redeem mankind.

The New Testament genealogy of Christ show the fulfillment of all four these promises. In Galatians we see that the promise seed is not seeds as of many but one which is Jesus Christ.

It was thousands of years after the first promise before God actually fulfills it, but the Bible says that God is not slow concerning His promise, but is longsuffering not willing any should perish, but all would come to repentance (salvation) .

God's Provision

Abraham believed God's promise and the Bible tells us that God counted that as righteousness. Abraham's faith in the promise is the example of faith that we are encouraged to follow. In Genesis Isaac says "Father I see the wood and the fire, but where is the Lamb. Abraham responds with "God will supply the Lamb my son".

Two thousand years later in exactly the same spot, God provided Jesus "the lamb that takes away the sin of the world. " Just as the Bile amplifies the fact that Jesus was the promised Seed, it also amplifies that fact that Jesus is "our Passover". Book of Revelation says, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain."

In the fullness of time, born of a woman. God sent forth His Son who as called Jesus (Savior), Christ (anointed) and Emanuel, which means God with us. God fulfilled His promise of a Seed that would crush the head of Satan.

Through the offense of one (Adam) sin and condemnation came to all men and through the righteous obedience of One (Jesus) salvation is available to all.

What must one do to claim the promise and experience the power of God? Believe in the Lord Jesus and thy shall be saved?

God so loves the world that he gave his only Son (Jesus), whoever believes this will not perish, but have everlasting life.

God's Power

When Abraham raised the knife God provided the lamb. The Bible tells us that Abraham by faith believed that God could raise Isaac from death if necessary to keep His promise to Abraham. Do we believe that God can raise us from the dead?

Without this type of faith it is impossible for one to please God. We must believe that God is and that God rewards those who seek Him.

God has the power to forgive sins. When Jesus heals the man with palsy, He first says to the man "your sins are forgiven." Then He heals the man and tells him to get up and walk. Jesus tells the audience that the reason He forgave the sins prior to the healing was that the might know He had the power to forgive sins.

All who believe are "born again" by the Spirit of God. We are to go forth and proclaim His excellencies. Jesus told His disciples (including us who believe) that they would receive power when the Holy Ghost came upon them and that they were to be His witnesses to the uttermost part of the world.

Elsewhere He tells us to go teach, baptize, and make disciples. Teaching them to obey all that He has commanded. This second phase of the three-part fulfillment of the everlasting covenant which is the duty of the church until He comes again. This Second Coming of Christ will complete the prophecy of "New Covenant" promised in Jeremiah.

The veil has been ripped we can come boldly before the throne of Grace in time of need to find mercy and grace.

If you have never cried out for mercy and grace now is the time. The parable of the "Pharisee and Publican" show us how easy Christ has made it for one to seek Him. The publican simply said "Lord have mercy on me a sinner. " The Bible says he went home justified.

Not only has the veil been ripped which allows access to Christ, it also has been removed so that we can be a mirror reflecting the glory of the Lord to those around us.
