Additional notes:
In many ways the understanding of God’s Word is simple and in other ways it is very complicated. Since the beginning of time man has tried to explain God and His Word. Theology is the science of the study of God.
Our Bible understanding is influenced by different schools of theology. It is our goal as we introduce different theologies to make you aware of their influence, but not favor one over the other. Let God’s Word determine our understanding and not another man’s opinion.
We use many Commentaries and Study Bibles that are written by authors from these different schools of theology. You and I are influenced by their work, and in many cases we are unaware. We need to be aware of these different theologies and their influence on our Biblical understanding. We will continue to look at these major schools of theology in later lessons.
These different schools of Theology are the attempts of men trying to develop a system to understanding for God’s Word. Each man made system has its short-comings. As we progress through this course, we will be studying more and more about all these major theologies and you will more than likely determine that your beliefs are a hybrid, a combination of them.
