Bible study.......... Old Testament Wisdom Books

Syllabus for the Bible Study of Old Testament Wisdom Books; Course Objectives:

The Old Testament ?Wisdom Books? crystallize the problems of human life and destiny, thus preparing for their solution through New Testament revelation.

The Book of Job balances God's justice and wisdom with the suffering of the innocent while pointing to the Crucified and Risen Redeemer in the Gospel. Job raises and age-old and relevant question of today, "Why do the righteous suffer?". Job provides an answer that is often not understood. The message of Job, like all of the other wisdom books is vital to us today as we try to do right, and yet find that despite best efforts, sometimes problems and suffering follow.

Solomon?s vain search for success and happiness on earth in Ecclesiastes ends when the Savior assures these things to his followers, not in this world but in the bliss of heaven, yet Solomon?s comments in Ecc 12:13-14 have both a practical (abundant life) and a spiritual (eternal life) application.
