Four Soils Ministry Old Testament Studies
We have a unique approach to our Bible Study program. Our Bible Study Certificate programs all use the same basic Bible lessons supplement with additional outside assignments based upon the specific certificate program that you are seeking.
We incorporate a number of approaches in our Bible study of the Old and New Testament. First, we believe that the Old is the Foundation of the New Testament and the New Testament explains the Old, plus they both are required for a complete story ( a mystery) about the central character of the Bible and history, Jesus Christ.
Second, we include elements of the following ways one may approach the study of the Bible: Synthetic—an overview of the Bible as a whole to provide a grasp of the overall message, Analytical—the process of viewing the Bible verse by verse to get an in depth understanding of specific doctrines, Topical or Doctrinal—a study of the Bible according to its many topics and doctrines, and Typical—a study of the many pictures or types found in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament, that portray the truth of the New Testament.
These ways are not only used within the twelve individual courses (six from OT & six from NT), but our way of covering the Bible is to divide the Bible into four sections, two OT and two NT, and then study them in a specific sequence of an OT segment, a NT segment, 2nd OT segment, and then the final NT segment. Each segment is made up of three study modules each.
By studding the Bible in this manner we can more clearly show that in the OT the New Testament is concealed and in the NT the Old Testament is revealed.
